Job Description:

Tekron, a Microchip Technology Incorporated company, is a leading developer of precision GPS/GNSS clocks and time synchronisation solutions used in critical infrastructure around the world. Our products support applications across national power grids, telecommunications networks, enterprise systems, and other advanced network environments in more than 80 countries.
As part of Microchip’s Frequency and Timing Division, the Tekron team works within a global engineering environment focused on developing the next generation of precision timing technologies.
The Project - Hardware Design and Validation
Location: Petone, Wellington
We are looking for a motivated and technically capable intern to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of hardware designs for integration into our products.
This project focuses on designing the circuitry and PCB required to incorporate into our Next Generation products. you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our cutting-edge hardware products. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, including international colleagues, to ensure our products meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and reliability.
This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in electronic hardware development, PCB design, RF systems, and product integration within a real-world engineering environment. The resulting designs will be used in our next generation products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and development of electronic circuitry and PCB layouts
- Perform hardware testing, validation, and troubleshooting
- Document design processes, testing activities, and technical findings
- Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the development process
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic circuit design
- Inquisitive mindset with a willingness to investigate technical problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to design and testing
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently studying electronics engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with PCB design tools or embedded systems is an advantage
- Interest in RF systems, telecommunications, or positioning technologies is desirable
Eligibility
- Be studying, or have recently completed, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree
- Be studying science, technology, engineering, design, business, or a related field at a New Zealand tertiary education institution
- Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand
