Description
Our Engineering teams are vital to the success of our existing and emerging products and sensors platforms. We are the largest and most trusted global provider of monitoring systems including sensors, monitors and software within the power generation and energy industry. We help our customers to ensures grid reliability and the transition from scheduled to condition based maintenance practices.
As a Test engineer with test automation experience, you will play a key role within this team, you will be responsible for testing and evaluating the software, firmware, hardware and systems applications that make product function per specification by applying automated verification procedures for developed or improved firmware/hardware monitoring devices.
The scale of the technologies we are dealing with is very wide. It is ranging from application software hosted on Linux OS down to the hardware abstraction software, firmware, FPGA and finally HW. The position requires a highly motivated, team oriented, professional with the right mix of relevant experience and skills, and keen interest in learning about the company product offering. This role will require interaction with developers, designers, manufacturing test engineers, field service, support team and peers from engineering organization globally, you will require outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented product development environment.
In this role, you will use, update, modify or design test automation tool for products improvements testing. You will work closely with a team of developers, designers who use Agile development Methods and the Scrum Framework to deliver critical, customer facing, solutions for Utilities and industrial customers.
Key responsibilities include
- Develop, design and document formal test plans and procedures using tools.
- Execute test plans and record results, generate/update known issues database.
- Coordinate and review results validity with Product Specialist.
- Test and record any non-compliance in the defect tracking database, JIRA.
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce and investigate issues.
- Automate majority of the test plans.
- Verify that all acceptance criteria are met per product specification.
- Analyze issues and identify alternative solutions or workarounds.
- Make sure all the features, issues and tests are documented in compliance with our internal processes.
- Perform debug and troubleshooting; lead Root Cause Corrective Action investigations and track corrective actions to ensure defect is successfully resolved.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar degree.
- 3+ years of Test Automation experience with testing software, firmware, and hardware.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python or similar).
- Experience designing and qualifying test fixtures during development phase.
- Experience with test instrumentation (i.e., temperature, flow, pressure, low voltage analog, function generators, scopes)
- Using AI tools
Preferred skills/experience:
- Experience in industry protocols (IEC-61850, DNP, Modbus), Ethernet systems, protocol analyzers, and industry SCADA practices.
- Are an independent and motivated self-starter.
- Knowledge of Agile and Scrum framework.
- Work well within teams and individually.
- Experience in product development for Utilities and industrial customers
- Hands on development of prototypes, testing
