Position Summary
Procurement Category Manager for OrpheusWorks Future Programmes in Defence Aerospace at Rolls-Royce will lead strategic sourcing and supply chain initiatives supporting development and delivery of advanced defence aerospace programmes. The role requires close interaction with programme teams, engineering, commercial, and external suppliers to ensure best value, resilience, compliance, and innovation.
What you will be doing
- Develop and implement a new fit for purpose category strategy aligned with our future defence aerospace programme objectives.
- Lead sourcing events and supplier selection for assigned categories, negotiation of contracts and agreements.
- Build robust supplier relationships, ensuring performance, value delivery, and development of partnerships.
- Work closely with programme, technical, commercial, and legal teams to understand requirements and risk.
- Drive cost reduction, supply chain efficiency, and mitigation of supply chain risks.
- Support sustainable and responsible procurement practices in alignment with Rolls-Royce policies and regulatory obligations.
- Monitor market and industry trends to inform category strategies and supplier innovations.
- Report on category performance, savings, risks, and improvement actions to leadership.
- Support supplier audits, QMS, and continuous improvement activities.
Position qualifications
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring strong commercial acumen, a structured work ethic and a strategic mindset. You’ll thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy solving complex problems. Specifically, you’ll need:
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, or category management, ideally within aerospace, defence, or high-technology industries.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent understanding of supplier management, performance metrics, and risk mitigation.
- Ability to interpret technical and commercial requirements.
- Familiarity with defence procurement regulations and quality standards.
- Strategic thinker with analytical and commercial acumen to challenge the norm.
- Experience managing procurement for development or future/early-phase programmes is advantageous.
- Degree in relevant discipline (business, engineering, supply chain), MCIPS or equivalent preferred.
- Eligible for UK security clearance.
