Patient Services Representative Per Diem - Northwest Hospital

The Patient Services Representative is the primary point of contact for patients, families, and caregivers when arriving in a department. They facilitate the patient check in process and provide patient and family centered customer service.

 

This is a fully onsite per diem position primarily located at our Northwest Hospital location, with opportunities to float to other Fred Hutch locations. The days are Monday-Friday with varying start and end times between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm PST.  

Responsibilities

• Greets and screens patients arriving for appointments and checks them in using an automated scheduling system. 
• Assembles and distributes appropriate paperwork to patients, families, caregivers and clinical staff.
• Triage questions and concerns from callers and forward to appropriate staff or department as needed. 
• Performs general clerical duties including, processing mail, taking inventory and ordering office supplies. 
• Activates provider orders (Alliance Lab only).
• May schedule patient appointments as ordered by clinician.
• May be responsible for the facilitation of patient flow.
• Verifies demographic, clinical and financial information with patient as required.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Six months to one year experience in customer service environment.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environment.
• Effectively organize and manage time and tasks independently.
• Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise manner.
• Can use a mouse, navigate computer programs and use email in a professional setting.

Preferred:

• Medical terminology.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $28.17 to $40.12, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  This is a fully onsite per diem position primarily located at our Northwest Hospital location, with opportunities to float to other Fred Hutch locations. The days are Monday-Friday with varying start and end times between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm PST.   Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H-1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H-1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, and paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked).
