Job Title: School Bus Driver / Fleet Coordinator

FLSA Class: Non-exempt Hourly 

Reports to: Chief Experience Officer 

Hours: Full-Time, M-F (Variable Hours based on route and field trip schedule)

 GENERAL SUMMARY

Under supervision, the School Bus Driver / Fleet Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for safely transporting children to and from school and related events, as well as for the scheduling, maintenance, and readiness of all buses and school vehicles. Will be required to transport students from school to a designated location as authorized by appropriate school officials, coordinate field trip transportation assignments, and maintain accurate trip and vehicle maintenance documentation for the fleet. Position requires the ability to obtain working knowledge of traffic routes between school and designated locations both in and outside of the city of Dallas, Texas.

 Duties/Responsibilities: 

•  Safely transporting students to and from school, field trips, and other activities.
•  Maintaining order and discipline among students.
•  Managing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus.
•  Complying with all traffic laws and regulations at all times.
•  Communicating with school administration and colleagues.
•  Checking for any potential issues and maintaining order during the trip.
•  Reporting disciplinary problems to the school.
•  Developing and maintaining driver and vehicle schedules for daily routes and school activities.
•  Coordinating and performing maintenance and repairs on all buses and school vehicles, and keeping them clean inside and  out.
•  Keeping all buses and school vehicles fueled at all times.· Assigning vehicles and drivers for field trips and other off-campus events.
•  Documenting all trips with proper logs, including routes, mileage, and times.
•  Ensuring all vehicles are well maintained, in safe working order, and ready for use at all times.
•  Must adhere to policy for drivers of company vehicle
•  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

   Education and Experience:

• Valid Texas driver’s license 
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger      (P) endorsements, and air brake endorsement as required
• Two years of experience
• Two years of experience working with children preferred
• Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years

  Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to maintain accurate fuel, maintenance, and trip logs for the fleet.
•  Ability to drive safely and meet safety standards required to maintain active license.
•  Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps.
•  Ability to plan delivery routes. 
•  Ability to carry out assigned route on time
•  Ability to receive and follow directions verbally or written
•  Ability to maintain basic logs and records.
•  Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision. 
•  Able to remain professional and courteous at all times. 
•  Effective problem-solving abilities.
•  Good verbal and written communication.
•  Must be well- organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks.
•  Strong teamwork
•  Ability to work various shifts as needed
•  Ability to speak and understand English language
•  Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, cleaning, and safety inspection procedures.
•  Ability to schedule and coordinate multiple drivers, vehicles, and trip requests

The ability to bend, stoop, walk and reach overhead for general bus inspection.  

Work is performed both on the road and in a garage or maintenance area, including time spent fueling, cleaning, and servicing vehicles, and may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and vehicle fumes.
