About the Role
At Perpetual Corporate Trust, our Document Custody team supports the secure handling, movement and retrieval of client documents. We are seeking a Mortgage Operations Officer to join the team on a max term contract until 31 July 2027.
This hands on operations role is well suited to someone who enjoys staying active throughout the day. You will move between document storage areas to collect, retrieve and deliver document packets in line with client requests and agreed service levels. The role involves regular movement between locations, handling archive boxes and working in a fast paced environment where accuracy, reliability and teamwork are essential.
You will join a close knit team of 2 within a broader team of 12, working alongside permanent and contingent team members in a collaborative environment. This is not a typical desk based role. You will be active throughout the day, supporting key document custody processes and helping deliver client requests efficiently. This is a full time onsite role, with standard working hours of 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
Key responsibilities
Retrieving and delivering document packets in response to client and business requests
Supporting the secure movement and handling of documents between storage and office locations
Working within agreed service levels in a busy, volume driven environment
Handling archive boxes and document packets safely, using appropriate equipment and following health and safety requirements
Accessing documents stored on shelves, including the use of appropriate equipment, such as ladders where required
Working closely with team members to manage daily workflows and priorities
Maintaining accuracy, care and confidentiality when handling client documents.
About you
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
Previous mortgage experience is not required. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, strong reliability and a willingness to learn. Financial services experience would be helpful but is not essential. You should be comfortable working in an active, onsite role that involves regular walking, lifting and movement throughout the day, including handling boxes and document packets.

Financial services experience, ideally, although this is not essential

A basic understanding of mortgages, trusts and related documentation would be highly regarded
