Your mission
Staybridge Suites Antwerp is a brand-new 99-room aparthotel located near Antwerp Central Station, the city centre, and the renowned Diamond District. Currently under construction, the hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027.
To support the hotel's successful pre-opening phase, we are looking for a Chief Engineer (f/m/d) who is available to start by September 2026.
As part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world's leading hospitality companies with more than 6,000 hotels across over 100 countries, you'll have the opportunity to help bring a brand-new hotel to life from the ground up.
As Chief Engineer (f/m/d), you will lead all engineering and maintenance operations throughout the pre-opening, opening, and ongoing operation of the hotel.
What You'll Do
- Lead all engineering activities throughout the hotel's pre-opening phase, ensuring all technical systems, equipment, and facilities are fully operational ahead of opening.
- Support the hotel opening by coordinating installations, commissioning, testing, contractor management, and implementation of IHG engineering standards.
- Supervise, coach, and support the Engineering team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
- Monitor the condition of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house facilities, and building infrastructure.
- Manage engineering budgets, maintenance planning, inventories, and procurement of spare parts, tools, and technical supplies.
- Coordinate external contractors and service providers, ensuring quality work and compliance with hotel standards.
- Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, local legislation, environmental regulations, and health & safety requirements.
- Lead emergency preparedness initiatives, fire and life safety programs, and security-related technical procedures.
- Support sustainability initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
- Collaborate closely with all hotel departments to ensure seamless operations and an exceptional guest experience.
- Analyse maintenance performance, recommend improvements, and drive continuous operational excellence.

Your profile
What You'll Bring
- Completed technical or engineering education, ideally in facilities management, building services, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
- Previous hotel pre-opening experience is highly preferred.
- Previous experience in a Chief Engineer or senior engineering leadership role within the hospitality industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hotel building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and preventative maintenance.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, capital projects, and supplier relationships.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong commitment to quality and guest satisfaction.
- Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch is an advantage.
- Flexibility and the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic hospitality environment.
