[What the role is]
We are seeking a proactive, meticulous, and motivated professional to join the Environmental Health Institute’s (EHI) Facility, Safety and Quality Department. The successful candidate will support the management and continual improvement of EHI’s Quality Management System, controlled documentation, safety documentation, and organisational knowledge assets. The officer will work closely with scientific divisions and stakeholders to ensure that policies, work instructions, safe work procedures, and governance documents remain current, effective, accessible, and aligned with operational, corporate and quality requirements. The role will also involve leading process improvement and digitalisation initiatives to enhance procurement, quality documentation, and knowledge management processes in a research laboratory setting.[What you will be working on]
- Manage EHI’s Quality Management System, including Work Instructions, Safe Work Procedures, Risk Assessments, templates, forms, and other controlled documents.
- Coordinate the development, review, approval, publication, and periodic revision of controlled documents to ensure they remain accurate, relevant, and effective.
- Standardise safety and quality documentation to align with NEA corporate requirements and applicable ISO9001/ISO17025 standards.
- Facilitate cross-functional reviews with scientific divisions and stakeholders to ensure procedures, workflows and governance requirements are clearly documented.
- Maintain and improve organisational knowledge repositories and document management systems to support accessibility, consistency, and effective knowledge retention.
- Lead or support process improvement initiatives through technology adoption in a research laboratory environment.
- Propose and implement digital solutions to enhance procurement operations, quality documentation, and knowledge management processes.
- Develop and implement improved operational models to enhance laboratory supplies procurement efficiency.
- Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge management, and digitalisation projects to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
[What we are looking for]
- Degree in Science, Quality Management, Information Management, or a related discipline.
- Preferably 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in scientific or research facilities, particularly in laboratory operations and quality management.
- Experience in quality systems, document control, knowledge management, or governance processes will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of government procurement policies and procedures, with experience in procurement operations and contract management.
- Strong background in Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety management, including risk assessment, safety documentation and bizSAFE Level 3 or above.
- Proven ability to support process improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong writing, documentation, and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Good stakeholder management, project coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
