IT AI Project Lead

## What you’ll do:

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient AI professional to join our team in Shanghai, China.

This role is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, deployment, and integration of AI solutions. The incumbent will lead the technical design and development of both front-end and back-end components for AI-powered platforms, while ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and aligned with business requirements and enterprise architecture standards.

The role requires deep technical expertise in AI frameworks, data engineering, model integration, cloud-native development, and system architecture, along with the ability to evaluate AI/ML vendor solutions, manage multiple AI initiatives, and influence stakeholders across IT and business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive AI Solution Deployment

• Maintain Eaton China’s Microsoft Azure AI Services environment to support AI capabilities and initiatives in China.
• Independently design end-to-end AI solutions, including data architecture, model selection, integration patterns, deployment strategy, and operational support model.
• Develop solution architectures for Generative AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Predictive Analytics, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and Agentic AI use cases based on business requirements.
• Lead the development and integration of front-end and back-end components for AI-powered platforms, including APIs, user interfaces, data integration, and system connectivity.
• Collaborate with IT Business Relationship Managers and business stakeholders to identify high-impact AI use cases and translate business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.
• Deploy Eaton’s standard AI solutions to address business needs, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, operational objectives, security standards, and local regulatory requirements.
• Lead the deployment and integration of AI applications and platforms, ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements, data privacy standards, and enterprise technology standards.

AI/ML Technology and Vendor Evaluation

• Lead the technical evaluation of AI/ML vendor solutions, solution architectures, and implementation approaches to ensure alignment with business objectives and enterprise standards.
• Assess vendor proposals, technical designs, and proof-of-concept results, and provide recommendations on feasibility, scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and total cost of ownership.
• Provide technical guidance and support to application owners throughout AI solution design, development, deployment, and operational support.

Project Delivery

\- Manage multiple AI projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.

\- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including IT, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and other business functions, to ensure successful project execution and adoption.

\- Identify and mitigate risks associated with AI projects, including technical, integration, security, data privacy, stakeholder, and delivery risks.

\- Implement corrective actions as needed and provide clear communication on project progress, risks, dependencies, and technical recommendations.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with emerging AI trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation across the organization.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging experimentation, learning, knowledge sharing, and practical application of AI technologies.
• Collaborate with global AI teams to share best practices, leverage existing solutions and drive continuous improvement.

## Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT, including at least 5 years specializing in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related areas.

• Proven track record in identifying AI use cases and translating business requirements into scalable AI solutions.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing front-end and back-end components for AI applications.
• Experience with AI platforms and solutions such as Microsoft Azure AI Services, Palantir, Snowflake, and local AI models or services such as DeepSeek and Qwen.
• Proven experience successfully leading AI projects in a global or multinational organization.

Technical Knowledge and Skills

• Deep understanding of AI technologies, including Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Data Analytics, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and Agentic AI.
• Strong experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
• Proficiency in front-end technologies such as React or Angular, and back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python, and .NET.
• Strong understanding of AI and Machine Learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• Proficiency in scripting, automation, and data tools, including Python, SQL, JavaScript, PowerShell, and Azure CLI.
• Expertise in cloud-native development, particularly within the Microsoft Azure and Alibaba Cloud technology stacks.
• Strong understanding of data architecture, model integration, API integration, system architecture, and enterprise application integration.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and data privacy standards in China.
• Experience with AI and data platforms such as Palantir and Snowflake is an advantage.
• Experience evaluating AI/ML vendor solutions, proof-of-concepts, technical architectures, and implementation approaches is strongly preferred.
