Course: RUSS 385 - Staging Russianness: From Pushkin to Chekhov (3 credits) section 001
Course Details: Masterpieces of the Russian stage in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries; the emergence of a uniquely Russian dramatic sensitivity against prevailing European trends; the literary word in a public, political and/or avant-garde forum.
Contract dates: August 31, 2026 – January 5, 2027

Salary (current rate for 3-credit course teaching): $11,479.00

Position Summary:
A Course assignment includes all or part of the following teaching activities:
a) preparation of the Course and Course plan;
b) delivery of the Course;
c) evaluation of students;
d) submitting to the University a report on student attendance and student grades;
e) supervision of Teaching Assistants or any other teaching support staff;
f) upon request, review of their students’ grades;
g) meeting with students, being available to answer questions and give advice concerning Course content and requirements;
Employees shall perform their duties in compliance with the Pedagogical Regulation and as specified in the administrative directives of the Hiring Unit. An Employee shall use appropriate pedagogical methods and material.
Teaching Qualification Requirements:
Master’s in Russian literature or successful completion of at least PhD evaluation 1 or equivalent.
Demonstrated expertise in the history of Russian theatre and in nineteenth- and twentieth-century Russian drama and opera.
