Job Summary Overview

The position is responsible for supporting and progressively leading business development and relationship management activities related to SBA 7(a), SBA 504, and commercial lending products. Loan types may include owner-occupied commercial real estate, construction loans, business acquisition financing, and lines of credit.

This role serves as a developing producer, responsible for managing portions of the loan origination process, supporting relationship development, and handling less complex loan opportunities with guidance. The position works closely with Business Development Officers, Credit Analysts, and Operations to develop credit knowledge, sales capability, and portfolio management skills.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports and progressively leads the solicitation and servicing of SBA and commercial loan relationships.
• Manages assigned segments of the loan pipeline, including tracking, follow-up, and borrower communication.
• Conducts initial borrower screening and qualification, including preliminary assessment of financial information and loan eligibility.
• Assists in structuring loan requests and preparing complete loan packages for underwriting and approval.
• Handles smaller or less complex loan opportunities with guidance, including coordination through approval and closing.
• Coordinates with loan officers, analysts, and support staff throughout the origination and closing process.
• Assists in ordering and managing third-party reports such as appraisals, environmental reviews, and title work.
• Participates in financial data collection and supports analysis used in evaluating borrower creditworthiness.
• Builds and maintains relationships with prospective and existing members through outbound calling, networking, and follow-up activities.
• Represents the credit union in client meetings, networking events, and community outreach activities, often in partnership with Business Development Officers.
• Supports portfolio monitoring activities, including tracking borrower performance, renewals, and ongoing reporting needs.
• Cross-sells banking products and services to support full relationship development.
• Maintains accurate records, pipeline reporting, and documentation in accordance with organizational standards.

Requirements

Position Required Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED.

Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience in business development, commercial lending, credit analysis, or a related financial services role.

Demonstrated experience supporting or participating in loan origination or credit processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Working knowledge of commercial and/or SBA lending practices and documentation requirements.

Ability to review financial information and support basic credit analysis with guidance.

Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritize effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with JHA or similar core banking systems preferred.

Developing sales and business development skills, including prospecting and client relationship management.

Licenses, Training, and Certifications Required

None.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting SBA lending or commercial loan origination.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
