Project Overview:
Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Plumbing Inspector to support federal construction projects in Arizona. Projects include boiler replacement, chilled water piping upgrades, and sanitary sewer infrastructure improvements at federal courthouses and government facilities. The selected candidate will perform field inspections, document construction progress, and assist with project quality assurance and compliance efforts.
This role is contingent upon award of project.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Inspect mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and utility construction activities.
- Verify installations conform to drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
- Review contractor schedules and monitor project progress.
- Prepare daily and periodic inspection reports with photographs.
- Document deficiencies and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Attend project meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders.
- Observe rough-in work, testing activities, startup activities, and substantial completion inspections.
- Support punch list development and project closeout activities.
- Conduct labor compliance interviews as required.
Required Education, Skills, and Abilities:
Education/Certification:
- ICC Commercial Plumbing Inspector Certification.
- ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training
- Knowledge of construction practices, industry standards, regulations, and codes required
- No specific degree requirement or additional professional certifications are required
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience inspecting mechanical, plumbing, piping, HVAC, utility, or facility infrastructure projects.
- Experience with commercial, institutional, industrial, or government facilities.
- Ability to interpret mechanical and plumbing plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of applicable building, mechanical, and plumbing codes.
- Former contractor, superintendent, foreman, facilities engineer, or owner's representative.
- Federal construction experience.
- Experience with central plant systems, boilers, chilled water systems, piping installations, and underground utilities.
Key Attributes & Skills:
- Strong reporting and documentation skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Arizona.
- Ability to monitor quality assurance activities and evaluate contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and quality control requirements
- Strong construction inspection, observation, documentation, and reporting skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Microsoft Project, Primavera, or equivalent project scheduling and management software
