Incorporated in 1955 and encompassing more than 454 acres, the Mt. Prospect Park District provides outstanding recreational programs, events, parks, facilities and services. With seven primary facilities and 27 neighborhood parks, the Park District is an integral part of a thriving multi-generational community. District open space includes two outdoor pools, biking and walking paths, a dog park and sizable space for outdoor athletic programming. The District covers over 11 square miles and serves a region of over a quarter million residents in Mount Prospect and surrounding communities. The Mt. We are searching for part-time KidsKlub Supervisors to supervise and care for children in the Park District’s before and after school care program. Under the direct supervision of the KidsKlub Site Director and reporting to the Early Childhood and Youth Supervisor, the PT KidsKlub Supervisor is responsible for supervising school-age children along with planning, organizing and implementing day-to-day activities.  


The PT KidsKlub Supervisor must be at least 16 years old and able to successfully pass a criminal background check. Additionally, the PT KidsKlub Supervisor must be available to work during the school year (August through June), Monday through Friday, from 7:15 am to 9:00 am, and/or from 3:15 pm to 6 pm (2:15 pm start time on Wednesdays if available). Additional hours will be required for programming on days off from school.


The starting pay for the PT KidsKlub Supervisor is $15.00+ per hour, depending on qualifications. Plus, Park District employees receive facility privileges.

Requirements

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Responsible for the safety and recreational programming for the participants of the program.

Implement age-appropriate weekly lesson plans created by KidsKlub Site Director that include theme days, special crafts, and other activities.

Maintain a commitment to the development of each child’s self- esteem by providing a safe, fun, and nurturing environment through leading age-appropriate activities.

Assist with daily KidsKlub program preparation and closing procedures.

Enforce KidsKlub policies and implement behavior management plans as needed.

Administer basic first aid, when required. 

Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.  

Be familiar with and abide by District policies and procedures.

Integrate all participants in a positive and respectful manner.

Remain actively engaged with children including playing games, talking with children and leading activities.

Perform the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, and handbook. Attend required training and meetings.


SECONDARY DUTIES: 

Dress in appropriate attire in accordance with District policies. District-issued lanyards are required to be worn at all times.

Limit use of cell phones to emergencies only.

Maintain a neat and orderly work environment, return supplies and equipment to the appropriate location when finished.

Perform additional functions as assigned which may be considered essential.

All other duties as assigned by the Youth Program Supervisor, Early Childhood & Youth Manager, Director of Recreation and /or Executive Director, however, in an emergency, perform all other duties as required. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 16 years of age. Must be a current High School Student, High School graduate, or have received a GED.

Must be able to work August through June (school year), Monday through Friday, at 7:15am-9:00am, and/or 3:15pm-6:00pm (2:15pm start time on Wednesdays if available). Additional hours will be required for days off of school programming. 

Must be able to care for, work and relate to children.

Must possess the capacity to provide a high level of customer service to participants/parents/caregivers.

Must be able to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees, children and the general public.

Must be able to work with general direction from an immediate supervisor.

Must possess the capacity to work and maintain composure in periods of high activity and in emergency situations.

Must possess the capacity to follow through on tasks to completion.

Must be able to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive work relationships and communication with supervisors and co-workers.

Must be able to demonstrate leadership qualities to perform required work.

Must possess the capacity to be self-motivated and achieve assigned goals. 

Must be able to speak loudly and clearly in a large group setting. 

Physical Requirements: The KidsKlub Supervisor will be required to regularly squat down to child’s level, stand and walk for a lengthy amount of time, sit in child-size chairs, lift 20+ pounds and demonstrate large/small motor movements. Additionally, the KidsKlub Supervisor may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions including wind, humidity, sun and hot/cold temperatures. 


Due to the needs of the Park District, evening and weekend hours may be required. Your work schedule may vary and work week may exceed regular work hours at times but will not exceed 1,000 hours per year.
