The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Financial Operations Lead, FinOps to build and mature an enterprise-wide FinOps capability across our commercial software, SaaS, and digital product portfolio. In this strategic and hands-on role, you will establish the operating model, governance, reporting, and accountability mechanisms that enable effective cloud financial management across hosted products, cloud platforms, and production environments.
Working closely with Finance, Cloud Operations, Product Development, Architecture, Product Management, Procurement, Customer Experience, and other key stakeholders, you will drive greater cost transparency, forecasting accuracy, and optimization while embedding cost-aware decision-making into product development, architecture, delivery, and operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how cloud investments are governed and optimized across a rapidly growing digital business.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Develop and execute the enterprise-wide FinOps strategy, operating model, governance framework, and maturity roadmap
- Establish visibility into cloud and infrastructure spend, including allocation methodologies, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and executive reporting
- Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives across compute, storage, licensing, networking, commitments, and consumption-based services
- Partner with engineering, architecture, product, finance, procurement, and operations teams to embed cost accountability into planning, design, delivery, and run-state operations
- Define and mature tagging standards, cost allocation models, KPI frameworks, dashboards, and reporting processes across AWS, Azure, GCP, and related platforms
- Translate cloud usage and spending data into actionable recommendations, business cases, and optimization opportunities for technical and business stakeholders
- Establish governance routines and decision forums that drive accountability, manage financial risks, and track optimization initiatives through completion
- Build cost visibility and governance mechanisms for emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, and agentic workloads
Your Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, technology finance, cloud operations, or IT financial governance
- Hands-on experience managing cloud spend, budgeting, forecasting, allocation models, and optimization initiatives across AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar platforms
- Strong understanding of cloud economics, including rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, committed-use discounts, storage optimization, and licensing models
- Proven ability to translate financial and usage data into executive insights and influence stakeholders across technical and business functions
- Strong communication, governance, and leadership skills with experience driving cross-functional initiatives without direct authority
In Addition, the Following Skills Would Be Beneficial for the Role
- Experience building or scaling a FinOps practice across multiple product lines, business units, or geographies
- Advanced experience with FinOps platforms, cloud-native cost management tools, and Power BI reporting solutions
- Experience designing unit economics models, cost allocation frameworks, and accountability mechanisms
- Deep understanding of cloud pricing models, enterprise agreements, marketplace purchases, and rate optimization strategies
- Experience supporting SaaS, hosted, or cloud-managed software environments where cloud costs are aligned to customer and product commitments
- FinOps Certified Practitioner, cloud financial management certification, or equivalent FinOps leadership experience
