About the Role
Huawei Canada CBG team is seeking a highly motivated Audio, Speech, & Acoustics Research Intern to join our AI & Signal Processing Research team. In this role, you will work closely with senior researchers and engineers to explore, design, and implement cutting-edge algorithms at the intersection of acoustic signal processing, deep learning, and speech processing.

Conduct research on AI agents, LLMs, VLMs, code generation, and multimodal AI, with a focus on novel and impactful research problems.
Design and develop GUI agents and coding agents for web, mobile, and computer-use environments.
Develop and investigate new approaches for SFT, reinforcement learning, agent training, tool use, and function calling.
Build research prototypes, datasets, training pipelines, benchmarks, and evaluation frameworks to validate new ideas.
Conduct rigorous experiments and analyze results to advance the state of the art.
Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals and communicate results through technical presentations and publications.
The total targeted annual compensation (based on 2,080 hours per year) ranges from $58,000 to $104,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.
