About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to strengthen the reliability, scalability, and performance of our high-traffic, multi-tenant SaaS platform, including the e-commerce systems behind our recognition and awards programs.
You'll join a small SRE team that supports a large portfolio of applications. We're not patching the old way of working; we're replacing it with an engineered approach grounded in SRE principles: clear service ownership, SLOs, automation, and repeatable processes. The work starts hands-on, with support requests, ticket handling, and operational cleanup, and every piece of it is an opportunity to understand a problem well enough to engineer it out. You'll help define the standards, tooling, and practices the team runs on going forward.
This is a hybrid role based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with three days onsite and two days remote each week.
Key Responsibilities
- Reliability & Performance: Design, implement, and maintain monitoring, alerting, and tracing for cloud-native applications. Define and track SLOs and error budgets, and drive improvements in uptime, latency, and overall system performance.
- Observability: Manage our observability tooling, which currently includes OpenTelemetry, Datadog, and Coralogix. Work with engineering teams to define the metrics, logs, and traces needed for new and existing services.
- Support & Operations: Handle operational requests and support tickets from engineering teams. Identify recurring work and automate it away.
- Incident Management: Serve as incident commander for major incidents. Lead root cause analysis and blameless postmortems, and drive action items through to completion. Improve how incidents are detected, escalated, and resolved.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Manage and optimize Kubernetes clusters and AWS resources. Automate infrastructure provisioning and scaling with Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Collaboration: Partner with software engineering teams on reliability and monitoring requirements, and help them adopt practices that improve resilience and performance.
- On-Call: Participate in a regular on-call rotation, with follow-the-sun coverage shared with our team in India. Respond to alerts, troubleshoot issues, and restore service during outages. Reduce alert noise and make on-call more effective over time.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related role
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Go, or Java
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Strong working knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes
- Hands-on observability experience with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar platforms, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting strategies for distributed systems
- A track record of managing production incidents and reducing MTTR
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
- Experience with e-commerce or high-traffic, multi-tenant SaaS systems
