Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems and has been revolutionizing modern flight for over 100 years. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.
Pratt & Whitney is working to once again transform the future of flight—growing our capabilities to provide outstanding engineering support to our Air Force customer at Oklahoma City, Tinker Air Force Base Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility. Our Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles (MSEN) Structures team is looking for a Principal Structures Engineer. In this role, you will perform structural analysis on military engine programs to demonstrate the durability and structural integrity of Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelle components.
What You Will Do:
- Perform structural analyses in support of Oklahoma City engine Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations. Hardware includes bearing compartments, gearboxes, lube pumps, oil tanks, tubes, mounting brackets, and ducts.
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and classical engineering assessments to evaluate residual fatigue life, including Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF) and High Cycle Fatigue (HCF), as well as damage tolerance. Assess incidental damage and normal wear to determine component integrity and suitability for return to service.
- Provide structural analysis support for product supportability initiatives, including redesign efforts to improve maintainability, durability, and service life.
- Apply advanced finite element modeling and simulation tools to perform detailed structural assessments and develop technically sound engineering solutions.
- Represent the structural engineering discipline on multidisciplinary teams, developing solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost, and weight. Document analytical methods and results, and present technical conclusions and recommendations to Pratt & Whitney management and external customers.
- Drive technology advancement and continuous improvement by enhancing engineering methods, analytical capabilities, and standard work processes.
