Description
Applied Materials, Inc. is the global leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually
every new chip and advanced display in the world. Our expertise in modifying materials at atomic levels
and on an industrial scale enables customers to transform possibilities into reality. At Applied Materials,
our innovations make possible the technology shaping the future.
Applied Materials' Mechatronics team is searching for an experienced Core Development Engineer to
join our team! Our team develops the software and control algorithms for the control system of our
products, which includes the real-time control of devices such as robots, motors, generators, pumps,
flow controllers and sensors. Our work also includes creating algorithms to optimize motion and process
control, dynamic system modeling and simulation, the design of the user interface, data collection,
storage and analysis, machine learning and analytics, remote access and security.
Key Responsibilities
1\. Design, develop, implement, and validate real-time control algorithms for robotics, motion control, and process automation systems
2\. Develop mathematical/dynamic models representing static and dynamic behavior of complex mechatronic systems, and optimize models for deployment on embedded real-time targets.
3, Implement control algorithms in real-time software platforms with focus on performance, robustness, and maintainability.
4\. Troubleshoot a variety of difficult software and controls problems. Design and implement bug fixes
5\. Perform servo tuning and optimization to achieve precision, stability, throughput, and robustness targets.
6\. Create software specifications and test plans for simulators, test benches or the lab.
7\. Conduct experiments and servo tuning to evaluate control performance, precision, stability, and robustness
8\. Prepare technical documentation, design reviews, validation reports, and customer presentations.
9\. Support product qualification, deployment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
10\. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, systems, and product engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle
