Summary of Job Duties:
The Research Associate will perform experiments relating to pathogenesis and microbiology. The successful applicant will be responsible for routine animal work as well as microbiological techniques, including bacterial growth and genetics, ELISAs, Immunoblots, etc.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, bacteriology, biochemistry, genomics or related field, plus four (4) years of research laboratory experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of the equipment used in a research laboratory.
- Willing to work with, handle, and perform experiments involving laboratory mice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Microbiology (e.g., bacteriology) or a related field.
- 3 to 4 years of laboratory experience.
Responsibilities:
- Perform experiments relating to mouse work and bacteriology research.
- Organize and oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, including: ordering supplies and small equipment, maintaining chemical inventories, entering computerized data, and performing routine chemical safety checks.
- Help train graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and any temporary undergraduate students who enter the lab.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
