Accelleron’s 3,000 employees are continuously innovating to deliver best-in-class products, services, and solutions that are mission-critical for the energy transition. You will join a team of experts in an exciting international environment, committed to excellence and innovation. Together, we support our customers in driving the transition toward sustainable industries with cutting-edge technology, deep expertise, and smart solutions. At Accelleron, we foster diversity and inclusion, welcoming and celebrating individual differences as a source of strength.
We are looking for a motivated Development Engineer to strengthen our R&D team in the areas of thermofluidic simulation, experimental validation, and turbocharging system development.
In this role, you will combine numerical simulation with laboratory and test data to support the development, validation, and optimization of turbocharging systems and related components. You will work closely with simulation specialists, test engineers, software developers, application engineers, and external research partners.
The position provides an opportunity to develop a strong system-level understanding of turbocharging and powertrain integration while contributing to simulation methodologies, engineering tools, and future propulsion technologies.
Your responsibilities
- Perform simulation-driven analysis, design, and optimization of turbocharging systems and components.
- Apply thermofluid simulation methods to investigate aerodynamic performance, internal flows, gas exchange, and other relevant physical phenomena of components such as flap, engine manifolds or cooler.
- Support the development and validation of 0D/1D simulation methodologies for turbocharger and engine-system applications using experimental and testbed data.
- Analyse measurement data, assess data quality, and apply required corrections for simulation prediction validations.
- Contribute to the integration of simulation, data-processing, and engineering workflows using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW.
- Prepare concise technical reports and present results to internal stakeholders, customers, and project partners.
- Collaborate with universities, research institutes, suppliers, and other external technology partners.
- Support knowledge sharing and contribute to internal technical documentation and training activities.
- Challenge existing approaches and propose practical improvements to models, experiments, tools, and engineering processes.
Your background
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
- Sound understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and energy-conversion systems.
- Practical experience with numerical simulation, preferably CFD, thermofluid modelling, or engine and powertrain simulation.
- Interest in developing competence in 0D/1D system simulation tools such as GT-Power, GT-SUITE, or equivalent software.
- Experience with experimental work, test preparation, measurement-data analysis, or component validation.
- Analytical and solution-focused working approach, with the ability to connect simulation results and physical measurements.
- Ability to structure technical activities, document results, and communicate conclusions clearly.
- Team-oriented mindset combined with the ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned deliverables.
- Motivation to learn new technical areas and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Strong written and spoken English.
Additional qualifications considered an advantage
- Experience with alternative fuels, combustion simulation, or future propulsion technologies.
- Knowledge of compressor or turbine aerodynamics and performance-map analysis.
- Experience with 0D/1D engine or system simulation.
- German or French language skills.
What you bring personally
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for technically challenging engineering problems.
- A proactive, result-oriented, and responsible working style.
- Willingness to combine theoretical analysis with practical experimentation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical disciplines and organizational boundaries.
- Clear communication and the ability to translate complex engineering results into actionable conclusions.
- Commitment to quality, safety, continuous learning, and reliable delivery.
Your benefits:
- Attractive compensation & benefits
- Employee Assistance Program Global
- Parental Leave Program
