Integrated Behavioral Health Clincian - Primary Care

Overview

As a Behavioral Health Clinician - Psychologist (BHC), you will serve as an integral member of the primary care team, working in a consultative and collaborative role to improve the overall health and well-being of patients. You will help address a broad spectrum of behavioral health needs by providing early identification, assessment, triage, and evidence-based, problem-focused interventions for patients experiencing behavioral, emotional, psychological, and social concerns related to both physical and mental health conditions.

 

In this role, you will meet with patients individually to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop recommendations that enhance the patient's care plan, and collaborate closely with primary care providers to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. When appropriate, you will provide follow-up treatment through skills training, coaching, and evidence-based interventions designed to improve patients' health, functioning, and overall wellness. You will also play a key role in supporting patients who require services beyond those available within the clinic by facilitating smooth transitions to community-based behavioral health resources.

Responsibilities

• This position requires advanced level skill in delivering evidence-based interventions targeted to improve overall health for patients with a variety of emotional and behavioral problems.
• The work includes the BHC meeting with patients individually for an assessment and then providing recommendations to the primary care team to enhance the patient's care plan. 
• When indicated, the BHC may also work with patients for several subsequent sessions to provide on-going skills training and coaching to improve health and functioning.
• The BHC also supports helping patients, who require services not provided in the LMG clinic, to make a smooth transition to care with community partners.

Qualifications

Education:

• Doctor of Psychology (PhD or PsyD) degree from a nationally accredited institution, fulfilling the requirements for licensure in the state of Oregon and/or Washington.

Experience:

• Minimum of two years of clinical experience or healthcare related field.

Skills:

• Complex diagnostic clarification, assessment of medical and mental health comorbidities, and providing expert consultation within our health system and externally, when appropriate.
• Ability to diagnose common mental health problems. Able to conduct solution focused interventions. Modalities including ACT, CBT, CBT-I, and psychodynamic psychotherapy are all applicable.
• Recognizes and advocates for patients regarding behavioral health strategies/interventions.
• Promotes health behavior change through evaluation, brief intervention and education.
• Works with multidisciplinary team to help support the patient’s health. Coordinates with LMG providers and community partners to refer for appropriate mental health therapy.
• Demonstrates competencies in assessment of emotional, cognitive and behavioral disorders in child, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients (depending upon population served by specific position). 
• Demonstrates competency in assessment of cognitive and psychological problems associated with, and/or exacerbating medical conditions.
• Experience with working with an interdisciplinary team.
• Skilled in case conceptualization and consultation.
• Flexibility and willingness to work at the fast pace of primary care.

Licensure

• Must hold a current valid Oregon and Washington License as Psychologist.

Pay Range

USD $55.01 - USD $81.97 /Hr.
