Position Overview: Rajant Health Incorporated is looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and run the distributed backend systems behind our platform. You'll write software most days, own services from design through production, and help shape the architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant services and APIs, synchronous or event-driven as the problem requires
- Make clear trade-offs between consistency, latency, and cost, and contribute to architecture decisions
- Own services end-to-end (design ? implementation ? deployment ? operation), working with cross-functional partners
- Build in metrics, logs, and tracing, tune performance by profiling, and drive root-cause fixes after incidents
- Model and manage data across services and storage systems
- Review code, mentor engineers, and improve CI/CD and developer workflows
Core Requirements:
- 4+ years of professional software engineering, including a production system or major feature you owned end-to-end
- Strong Python: you've built and operated production services in it, not only scripts or notebooks
- Ability to pick up other languages and tools as the work requires (for example Go, C++, or ROS 2)
- Experience designing REST and/or gRPC APIs, including service boundaries and versioning
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases: data modeling, indexing, and query performance
- Experience with messaging or streaming systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQTT, or similar)
- Experience shipping services with Docker, ideally deployed on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience debugging production problems that span multiple services (concurrency, partial failure, data consistency)
- Experience writing automated unit and integration tests for the services you ship (for example pytest)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Go: highly valued, and the one we'd most like to see
- ROS 2, robotics software, or distributed robotic systems; modern C++
- Kubernetes and/or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Edge computing or real-time systems
- Security practices (OAuth, JWT, secrets management)
