Community Asphalt, founded in 1980 as an asphalt paving contractor, based in Miami, Florida, and part of OHLA USA since 2006, has since become specialized in general road construction and transportation infrastructure. From its four operation and plant facilities in Miami-Dade, Fort Myers, Vero Beach and West Palm Beach, the company boasts extensive geographic coverage throughout South Florida, focusing on all aspects of transportation infrastructure development, primarily for state and local authorities. Community Asphalt continues to provide traditional paving services which include grading and paving, pavement milling, surveying, excavation, on and off-road hauling, drainage, utilities, base finishing, and highway sweeping. The company also provides engineering, contracting, design and build and finance and more complex PPP contracts services. These projects include parking lots, industrial and retail complexes, road and highway construction, and airport runways.

Summary
Our company has an immediate opening for a Advanced MOT Specialist in West Palm Beach, Fl.  The Advanced MOT Specialist will be responsible for planning and supervising the setup and maintenance of traffic control devices and systems throughout our construction projects. An advanced MOT certification is required to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

The Advanced MOT Specialist will be responsible for directing traffic and pedestrians around or near a construction zone, accident or other road hazard, making sure that the safety of the construction workers and the general public are taken into account

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Directs traffic to protect the safety of the work crew
• Directs the actions of motoring and pedestrian traffic for their safety and the safety of the work crew
• Check hand signals used by crew to indicate work activities
• Assist in setup of traffic control zones in accordance with regulations and standards
• Adjust work zones as work progresses
• Check for variations in the worksite and adapt the worksite setup as required
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Proven experience in traffic control and management within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction procedures and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with team members and other construction professionals.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams related to traffic control and construction layouts.
• Proficient in the use of traffic control software and equipment.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by project demands.
• Schedules available - Day 7am-7pm or Night 7pm to 7am.

    Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1+ year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
• Advanced MOT certification.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions

• Ability to carry up to 50 lbs
