Description
M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s WestK, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.
You will be responsible for:
- overseeing, managing and evaluating the delivery of creative learning programmes on time and in budget to engage a broad range of museum audiences including families, children, young people, and young adults;
- leading a team to create innovative and vibrant events, activities and programmes that integrate engagement strategies and exhibition content with a focus on visual art, design, architecture and moving images;
- supporting curators to develop audience-focused engagement philosophies and strategies that strengthen participation, expand partnership and foster active learning;
- cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with artists, makers, educators, community groups and cultural organizations to connect exhibition content and programming to outreach;
- contributing to the general development of the future M+; and
- Performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by M+.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree, preferably in museum or art education, fine arts, design, architecture, moving images, creative media, cultural management or equivalent;
- have at least 6-10 years of professional experience in programme planning and development, project management of art and cultural events or festivals;
- have proven experience of creating and implementing strategic audience development related to the public such as family, youth, access groups and communities;
- have strong research skills with demonstrated commitment to learning, and maintain up-to-date knowledge with the literature and practices of learning and engagement programming issues in contemporary museums;
- be a diplomatic and collaborative team player with proven leadership and facilitation skills; and
- have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
