Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Computer Systems Analyst (GAITS) (26-451) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Systems Analyst (GAITS) will develop and maintain analysis tools used by the team and the customer to assess the performance of Missile Defense and Space Domain Awareness systems. This analyst will work with complex, large-scale simulations and real-world data, focusing on ballistic missile threats, weapon systems, and command-and-control architectures. As part of an Agile Scrum team, the role contributes directly to features and stories aligned with program objectives, translating analysis results into actionable feedback for software and systems teams.

A successful candidate will have strong analytical and technical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to explain complex analytical results from a large, distributed system to both technical and non‑technical audiences. The Systems Analyst must be comfortable working independently or in a small group, adapting to a highly dynamic environment, and clearly conveying analytical findings to software teams about their products.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance analysis tools using object‑oriented programming to support program and customer needs
  • Analyze real-world data about Missile Defense and Space Domain Awareness, focusing on performance, trends, and system behavior
  • Perform performance analysis and characterization of large‑scale complex simulations involving ballistic missile threats, weapon systems, and command and control architecture
  • Use tools such as MATLAB and Python to process, visualize, and interpret complex datasets and simulation results
  • Explain complex analytical results of large distributed systems to non‑technical audiences in a clear, concise manner
  • Communicate analysis results and recommendations to software teams, providing actionable feedback on their products
  • Participate as a member of an Agile Scrum team, contributing to features and stories mapped to program objectives
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional product teams, including systems engineers, software developers, testers, and mission analysts
  • Work in a Linux environment for data analysis, tool execution, and integration activities

Basic Qualifications:

Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a strong foundation in Mathematics and Physics to support modeling, simulation, and performance analysis from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope Government-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with eligibility to be read on to SCI clearance
  • Experience developing tools for analysis using object‑oriented programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar languages)
  • Experience in performance analysis and characterization of large‑scale complex simulations focused on:
  • Ballistic missile threats
  • Weapon systems
  • Command and control architecture

  • Defense communication systems
  • The Missile Defense System (MDS)
  • Basic knowledge of Linux (command‑line usage, scripting, and running tools in a Linux environment)
  • Experience collaborating with a cross‑functional product team, working closely with engineering, software, test, and mission stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

Data & Analysis

  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and filtering large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
