Job Description Summary
A key customer-facing Project Management role for the Marine Business Unit within GE Vernova, Power Conversion and Storage UK Ltd.An opportunity for an experienced Project Manager, although consideration will also be given to less experienced applicants, with a strong desire to develop into the role.
Must have the ability to form effective working relationships with Customers, other Team Members and third-party suppliers to ensure the project objectives are achieved. Will take responsibility for delivery of single large project or portfolio of smaller projects, with ownership of financial performance, budgets, delivery and directing resources.
Job Description
The Project Manager will perform the following duties:
- Manage a large project (or Portfolio of smaller projects) for the Marine Business Unit, to ensure that contractual obligations are met to quality standards, on time and to budget
- Be the primary point of contact for the customer on each project, building a strong and effective customer relationship, achieving a high level of customer satisfaction and serving as a basis for repeat business
- Lead and co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary project team to deliver the many competing project objectives and priorities in a structured and efficient manner
- Interface with other GE Vernova participating units, multiple types of engineering resource and external suppliers, as needed
- Managing the commercial, technical and quality aspects of the project
- Creating, maintaining and driving progress against a project plan and schedule
- Ensure timely and accurate customer invoicing and on time payment collection
- Ensuring compliance with GE Vernova processes and procedures
- Raising, submitting and negotiating extensions of time, scope changes and other claims with the customer, as appropriate
- Carrying out project reviews to check progress, manage cost, identify deviations from plan, identify risk and forecast future performance

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum HNC in engineering or business qualification.
Experience in a Project Management role appropriate to the position.
Experience of interfacing with external customers and being commercially astute.
Have a good understanding of project finances enabling effective control of invoices, costs and internal trading. Able to critique a project from a financial view.

- Ability to achieve Security Clearance at least to ‘Basic’ level
- Must be willing and able to travel when required, for example to customer, supplier or job site locations.
Desired Characteristics:
Commercial or Technical Degree
Professional status and/or formal qualification in a body related to Project Management or Quantity Surveying
Knowledge of Marine / Naval Markets
Experience of:
- Business operations & management
- Contractual & legal aspects
- Procurement & supplier negotiations
- Proficiency in the use of SAP would be advantageous
- Competence in Project scheduling tools: MS Project, P6, etc.
