Position Summary 

  

FSM Group, LLC, an aviation fuel management company with operations across North America, has an immediate opening for an On-the-Job Trainer at our Boston airport location.


The On-the-Job Trainer (OJT Trainer) provides hands-on instruction and mentorship to employees in aircraft fueling operations. This role ensures trainees develop the skills, safety awareness, and professionalism needed to meet company and regulatory standards. The OJT Trainer promotes a positive learning environment while modeling safe, efficient, and compliant work practices. 


Essential Responsibilities 

  • Establish clear learning objectives for each training session 
  • Train and instruct trainees on proper aircraft fueling procedures, including connecting and disconnecting fueling equipment, dispensing fuel, and balancing aircraft fuel loads safely and accurately 
  • Demonstrate the safe handling, lifting, carrying, and operation of fueling and related equipment 
  • Safely lift and handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds overhead on a frequent basis 
  • Follow airline and FSM Standard Safety Procedures (SSPs) and ensure trainees comply with applicable safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements 
  • Reinforce adherence to company uniform, grooming, and professional conduct standards 
  • Deliver constructive, objective, and professional feedback to promote trainee learning and performance development  
  • Report equipment leaks, damage, malfunctions, irregularities, and other maintenance or safety concerns to leadership for appropriate action and documentation 
  • Verify assigned fueling equipment is safe, operable, and compliant with company standards before use 
  • Instruct trainees on the accurate completion of fuel transaction slips, Fuel Service Records (FSRs), tickets, and other required documentation 
  • Foster a professional, respectful, and productive work environment 
  • Coordinate effectively with trainees, supervisors, managers, and team members to achieve departmental and operational objectives 
  • Complete assigned shifts and tasks until all scheduled flight activities and related work have been completed 
  • Attend required meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to meet operational needs

Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record in accordance with company standards 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States 
  • Ability to maintain reliable transportation to and from the assigned work location 
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance 
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and applicable background checks, including federal fingerprinting, in accordance with regulatory requirements 
  • Ability to access all areas of the airport necessary to perform job duties, including secured areas, in compliance with airport and federal regulations 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government security clearance; employment is contingent upon successful completion of all applicable background checks and clearance requirements as determined by the contracting agency 
  • Demonstrated record of strong job performance

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to address routine operational challenges 
  • Basic mathematical proficiency 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guidelines, and procedural manuals 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English as required to perform job duties and support safe operations in the airport environment, including during emergencies or situations requiring a shared language for safety 
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagram form 
  • Proficiency with computer systems and common workplace software applications, including Microsoft Office applications, data entry and operational reporting systems 
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft fueling procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation 

Physical and Environmental Requirements 


This position requires sustained physical effort and consistent exposure to outdoor and potentially hazardous work environments. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. 


Mobility and Access 

  • Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders with 50+ steps and work at heights of 50 feet or more, including high, precarious places 
  • Ability to get in and out of vehicles of varying sizes and heights 
  • Ability to drive and operate vehicles and equipment of various sizes, including automated lifts up to 26 feet 

Lifting and Carrying 

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds overhead 
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 pounds to waist level 
  • Ability to shovel materials such as snow, sand, dirt, gravel, or rocks as needed 

Standing and Movement 

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, twist, climb, and balance for extended periods of time 
  • Perform repetitive physical movements, including bending at the waist and knees, and sustaining awkward or physically demanding positions 
  • Capable of climbing and standing on step ladders while performing overhead work, such as attaching fueling hoses 

Manual Dexterity 

  • Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grip, and operate tools, equipment, and controls 

Sensory Requirements 

  • Hear and respond to verbal instructions, environmental sounds, and audible alarms 
  • Maintain the following vision capabilities 
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) 
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more) 
  • Color vision (identify and distinguish between colors) 
  • Peripheral vision (see up/down and side-to-side while focused on a central point) 
  • Depth perception (assess distance and spatial relationships) 
  • Ability to adjust focus (sharpen vision at various distances) 

Environmental and Working Conditions  

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind. 
  •  Tolerate frequent exposure to 
  • Moderate to high noise levels (with use of appropriate hearing protection)  
  • Fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous substances, materials, or waste  
  • Work near or around:  
  • Moving mechanical parts 
  • High-voltage equipment  
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems operating under high pressure
