Job Duties:

This full-time University Staff ongoing position (Program Associate) provides administrative assistance to the Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology, i.e., the Chair of the Department field placement coordinator, graduate program coordinator, and PhD program coordinator. The Program Associate also assists the Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology, the Department of Social Work, and departments within the College of Community Engagement and Professions with course scheduling, and liaisons with advising for the College of Community Engagement and Professions as needed for student enrollment and retention. The Program Associate must exercise independence in performing job duties and have the ability to follow through on all assigned tasks. The Program Associate reports directly to the Department Chair and is expected to have an on-campus presence in assisting administrators and serving students. Additional Information:

This position will be performed fully onsite at UWM’s main campus.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the schedule of classes for each term 
  • Enter data and maintain files   
  • Manage confidential records  
  • Collects, analyzes, and prepares various communication materials from established sources utilizing technology mediums
  • Organize Department events  
  • Serves as a first point of contact for individuals and groups, provides basic organizational information via phone, in person and through other communication mediums, and routes more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities
  • Maintains established methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to work operations according to established policies and procedures
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations
  • Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures under general supervision

Compensation:

The target hiring range is $23.00-$26.00/hour. Final salary will be contingent upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrated throughout the selection process.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in an office setting.  
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a related field or equivalent work experience. 
  • Proficient in the use of office technology, including MS Office, as evidenced by application materials. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred. 
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, multi-tasking and program planning skills with strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive professional working relationships. 
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
