Job Title: Entry-Level Shop Technician
Department: Service
Reports To: Service Supervisor / Service Manager
Position Summary:
Kimball Equipment is seeking a motivated and dependable Entry-Level Shop Technician to support shop operations by assisting with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of crushing, screening, and aggregate equipment. This position is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in the heavy equipment industry. The role provides hands-on training and development opportunities while working alongside experienced technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Assist technicians with maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds of crushing and screening equipment.
- Perform basic tasks such as cleaning, disassembly, and reassembly of components.
- Prepare tools, parts, and equipment for jobs and work orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
- Support equipment inspections and help document findings.
- Operate basic shop tools and equipment under supervision.
- Assist with loading/unloading equipment and parts.
- Follow all company, MSHA, and OSHA safety procedures and guidelines.
- Learn to read service manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support shop operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Mechanical aptitude or interest in heavy equipment repair.
- Previous shop, construction, or mechanical experience is a plus but not required.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
- Basic hand tool knowledge preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop setting.
