Job Title: Assistant Royalty Manager
A little bit about our team:
The EMEA SSC Royalties team is the engine that ensures WMG’s incredible talent gets paid accurately and on time. Working closely with A&R, Legal, and Finance, we manage the end-to-end statement and payment process for artists, producers, mixers, and third parties. We are directly connected to the lifecycle of every song, turning creative hard work into tangible financial rewards.
Your role:
Reporting to the Royalty Manager, you will be part of a wider royalty team of 20. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the Royalty Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the UK Royalties team. You will help ensure the accurate and timely processing of artists royalty statements and work alongside the Royalty Manager to execute the team's goals, acting as the first line of contact for intricate contract interpretations, complex account setups (including Joint Ventures and Profit Shares), and contract approvals. You will also provide support leading up to the statement runs including reviewing and approving pre-run errors and any products setup by the team which need reviewing.
Here you’ll get to:
Drive Iconic Roster Success: Support the end-to-end statement and payment lifecycles for world renowned record labels.
Ensure Precision & Punctuality: Guarantee that artists, producers, and mixers receive highly accurate royalty statements and payments exactly on time.
Collaborate: Partner closely with A&R, Legal, and Finance teams to navigate complex artist contracts and streamline financial workflows.
Deputize for the Royalty Manager where necessary. Showcasing your leadership skills & the ability to manage your workload effectively.
Translate Data to Reward: Turn complex music usage and streaming data into tangible financial rewards, directly connecting your work to the success of global tracks.
Prepare and assist with sign-off quarterly and six-monthly royalty statements ensuring contractual guidelines are met.
Assist with approval of interpretation and implementation of artist recording agreements to the royalty system.
Assist with approval of set-up of new releases to ensure all participants are captured.
About you:
You are highly organised with an excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You have the ability to work well under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
You are prepared to take responsibility and be accountable for your workload.
You are comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and artist management.
You are able to work on own initiative and as a team player.
You have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
You are looking for constant improvements with a view to achieving best working practice.
You are able to master the dual requirement of attention to detail and to focus on the 'big picture' issues.
You will have an understanding of high-level complex royalty accounts. Including standard accounting, profit shares and distribution deals.
You have experience reviewing and approving accounts.
We’d love it if you also had:
Significant experience of artist accounting within a royalties department (min 2-3 years).
Experience with enterprise royalty systems/software.
Experience of supervising a team.
Strong skills in interpreting and implementing contractual information.
Microsoft Office or Google Suite skills (particularly Excel and/or Sheets e.g. XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, data manipulation).
Working knowledge of SAP.
