The Office of the Chatham County Tax Commissioner is seeking a skilled Public Information Coordinator to spearhead communications and media initiatives. - Provides public information, communications, and media assistance for the Office of Chatham County Tax Commissioner.
- Coordinates public relations and communications strategies, programs, activities, and outreach efforts.
- Prepares and disseminates news releases, prepares briefing reports and materials related to events and meetings, and maintains files of articles related to the Department.
- Researches, writes, edits, and proofreads written materials.
- Coordinates and/or conducts social and civic events and public appearances with media, community groups, governmental offices, and other entities.
- Serves as a liaison to professional and civic organizations.
- Participates and assists in expanding community outreach and special projects and provides correspondence through public electronic media.
- Manages social media sites and collaborates with the Chatham County Public Information Office to strategize social media communications.
- Assists with content for the website and newsletter.
- Assists in creating graphic art, including logos, printed materials, and motion graphics.
- Uses communication and customer service skills to establish, maintain, and facilitate relationships with the media, public, and other departments.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Broadcasting, or a closely related field, and
- At least two (2) years of experience in Journalism, Public Information or Relations, Marketing, or a closely related field; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with publications, layout photography, and radio and television production.
