About the Role
As Manufacturing Quality Problem Solver Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving manufacturing and product quality issues within the operations. This role plays a critical part in driving root cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards. The position requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies. Must understand the philosophy of HPS (Continuous Improvement). Develop Harman skills and competences in employees.
What You Will Do
- Lead and facilitate root cause analysis (RCA) for production and customer-related issues.
- Apply structured problem-solving methodologies such as:
- 8D (Eight Disciplines)
- A3 Thinking
- DMAIC (Six Sigma)
- 5 Whys, Ishikawa (Fishbone)
- Investigate internal defects and customer complaints that affect the operation.
- Develop, implement, and validate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor effectiveness of solutions and ensure permanent resolution.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Engineering).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards such as:
- IATF 16949
- ISO 9001 / 14001
- Prepare and present technical reports and professional documentation (8D reports, others).
- Participate in audits, customer visits, and escalation meetings.
- Analyze data and trends using statistical tools to proactively identify risks.
- Support new product launches by ensuring robust problem prevention strategies.
- Assure KPIs are on track for SQDC.
- Meet the requirements of the Quality Management System.
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions for SQDC issues through established communication channels.
- Ensure the completion of your daily standard work.
- Responsible for maintaining 5´s in work areas by shift (cleaning routine to 5´s audits).
- Data analysis for Operations: Records, KPI, relevant information. Use of digitalization and databases.
- Guide your team to produce parts respecting all safety instructions, not committing unsafe acts and using your personal protective equipment indicated in your VJI (work instruction).
- Assure that Standard documents for your process is in place and according to Quality Management System (VJI, Spec, PCP, PFMEA).
- Comply with quality program and Production plan, as well their production standards: Units per hour (UPH).
- Execute Layer process audit, 2nd layer. (LPA)
- Support in the training and development for employees – production activities/ processes.
- Assure that SAA and SC requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with ISO 14001 and IATF 16949.
What You Need to Be Successful
- 3 years of experience with automotive manufacturing environment and problem solving
- Demonstrable knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar).
- Production background in a high mix environment
- Core tools (APQP, PFMEA, SPC, PCP)
- Bachelor’s degree
