Description

The Manager, Video Production leads the organization's video production team, overseeing the planning, production, editing, and delivery of video content that supports the organization's marketing, communications, and brand objectives. As a people leader, this role guides a team of video editors and motion graphics professionals, supplemented by external vendors for scale, while setting creative direction, production standards, and workload priorities across every project. Operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, the Manager, Video Production partners with Marketing, Communications, and business leaders to translate strategic objectives into compelling visual storytelling, from product explainers and customer stories to executive thought leadership and social content. This role is accountable for team performance, creative quality, production efficiency, and talent development across the video program.

Primary Responsibilities

Video Production Team Leadership

  • Leads, mentors, and develops a team of video editors and motion graphics professionals, supplementing internal capacity with external vendors and freelance resources as project scope requires.
  • Assigns projects, manages workloads, and establishes production priorities to align team capacity with organizational demand.
  • Conducts performance reviews, delivers coaching, and supports the professional development and career growth of team colleagues.
  • Fosters a collaborative, creative, and high-performing team culture that strengthens colleague engagement and creative excellence.
  • Exercises hiring and separation authority for the video production team, partnering with Human Resources on staffing decisions.

Video Production & Delivery

  • Oversees all phases of video production, including concept development, pre-production, production, post-production, and final delivery.
  • Provides creative direction for storytelling, cinematography, editing, motion graphics, and overall production quality, ensuring all content meets creative, technical, and brand standards.
  • Supervises on-location and studio productions as needed, coordinating logistics, crew, and equipment.
  • Ensures video content and workflows remain aligned with brand standards and organizational goals, maintaining consistency across all video assets and platforms.

Creative Strategy & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborates with Marketing, Communications, and business leaders to develop creative strategies and content plans that support organizational objectives.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to understand project objectives and translate them into compelling visual content.
  • Represents the video production function in planning discussions with department and organizational leadership regarding content priorities and creative standards.

Operational & Resource Management

  • Manages production schedules and timelines, and oversees day-to-day elements of the video production budget, including vendor costs, freelance resources, and equipment needs.
  • Manages video production equipment, studio resources, and software licenses, and develops efficient production workflows and asset management systems.
  • Oversees media storage, file organization, backups, and archiving processes to safeguard the organization's video asset library.
  • Evaluates and implements new production technologies, editing techniques, and AI-powered tools to modernize the organization's video program.

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of video production and post-production processes, including cinematography, lighting, audio production, color correction, and motion graphics.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and other professional video editing and motion graphics software.
  • Experience leading or managing a creative production team, including workload planning, project assignment, and creative direction.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent productions, budgets, and production schedules.
  • Ability to balance creative vision with brand standards and business objectives while managing tight deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across Marketing, Communications, and business teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and a builder's mindset, with the ability to create and refine production workflows in a fast-moving environment.
  • Knowledge of emerging production technologies, editing techniques, and AI-powered tools relevant to modern video production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in film, video production, communications, marketing, or a related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5–7 years of professional experience in video production and post-production required.
  • 2 or more years of experience leading or managing a creative production team required.
  • Experience managing production budgets, vendor relationships, and multi-project schedules required.
  • Some travel required.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs occasionally, and up to 15 lbs frequently, when handling video and production equipment.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk intermittently throughout the workday, including for extended periods during studio productions and on-location shoots.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, up to 6–8 hours per day, while working at a desk or computer during editing and post-production work.
