Description
At Ryan Lawn & Tree, our people come first — because they're the reason we've grown into a $100M+ company serving communities across Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. We hire exceptional people, invest in them, and give them work that matters. If you're looking for more than a job — a place that treats you right and pushes you to be your best — this is it.
This role will be on-site in our Merriam, KS office.
About the Role
We're looking for a Data Analyst to join our growing analytics team. In this role, you'll turn raw data into clear, decision-ready insight — building dashboards, cleaning and shaping data, running analysis, and translating what the numbers mean for the people who need to act on them.
This is a hands-on analytics role with room to grow. Our department owns budgeting and other core financial work, and we're in the middle of an exciting shift toward a modern data stack (moving to Snowflake). If you're an analyst who's curious about the engineering side of data and wants to help build the pipelines and workflows behind the reports this is a great fit.
The Data Analytics team serves all of Ryan Lawn and Tree. You will work closely at some point with marketing, finance, operations, human resources, and leadership. You'll own projects from start to finish and be expected to use your expertise to help provide a solution. We're looking for someone flexible and curious who sees a business question and figures out how to answer it.
We also want to go beyond static dashboards: finding better ways to get data in front of our people so they can grasp it quickly and get to good decisions fast and bringing automation and AI into our reporting where it genuinely makes sense for the business.
We work in an agile mindset, so you'll operate in short cycles, adapt as priorities shift, and stay close to the business.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports in Tableau, Google Sheets and/or Excel that people actually use to make decisions.
- Perform data analysis and turn it into clear recommendation, then present those findings in a way non-technical stakeholders understand.
- Clean, transform, and prepare datasets so the underlying data is accurate and analysis ready.
- Deliver both repeatable, recurring reporting and one-off ad hoc requests, balancing the two.
- Partner with departments to understand their business needs and guide them on what data will actually help their teams.
- Own projects end to end across the business — marketing, finance, operations, and beyond — from framing the problem to delivering the solution.
- Find better ways to get data in front of people so they can grasp it quickly and reach decisions effectively.
- Help implement automation and AI in our reporting where it makes sense for the business.
- Support budgeting and financial reporting work owned by the analytics department.
- Contribute to our move to Snowflake, and over time help design and build some of your own data workflows and pipelines.
Requirements
What We're Looking For (Required)
- 1–3 years of experience in a data analytics role.
- Hands-on experience building dashboards in Tableau (or comparable tools).
- Ability to perform analysis, form data-driven recommendations, and present them clearly to a business audience.
- Experience cleaning and manipulating data to get datasets into the right shape.
- Comfort producing both recurring reports and ad hoc analysis.
- Working knowledge of SQL and Python (or comparable languages).
- Proficiency with Google Sheets and/or Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Genuine interest in the data engineering side — building data workflows, not just reporting on them.
- Exposure to Snowflake or a comparable cloud data platform.
- Familiarity with agile ways of working.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, or other financial analysis.
- A track record of translating business questions into the right data and the right analysis.
- Interest in applying automation and AI to make reporting faster and more useful.
Core Skills
- Analysis & query – SQL, Python
- Visualization – Power BI, Tableau, Excel/Google Sheets
- Data platform – Snowflake (or comparable)
- Ways of working - Agile, problem-solving, adaptability, curiosity, end-to-end project ownership, cross-functional partnering
(Comparable tools and technologies are welcome — we care more about the underlying skills than any specific product on the list.)
We hire great people for our employee-owned company. As a member of our team, you'll become a partner in the highest-quality lawn and tree company in the Midwest.
