Collaborate with innovative 3Mers around the world
 

The Application Development Specialist will support the Automotive Aftermarket Division (AAD) through a combination of hands-on product demonstrations, product training for internal and external audiences, new product introduction support, and product testing. This role will also partner with the 3M sales team to help drive growth across key markets and product lines.

In this role, you will participate in customer collaboration, support application development, and contribute to product commercialization efforts. You will build knowledge of the product line, market dynamics, industry standards, customer processes, and competitive practices. You will also support Customer Inspired Innovation initiatives, participate in field trials, and deliver customer- and market-focused training through in-person and digital channels.
 

The Impact You Will Make in This Role

As an Application Development Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead training and implementation of 3M products and materials in body shop and industrial environments.

  • Train 3M sales professionals to strengthen their knowledge of 3M materials, applications, and value propositions.

  • Assist body shops with implementing 3M Standard Operating Procedures to help improve productivity and process consistency.

  • Support customer collaboration, field trials, and product demonstrations to help drive growth in the product line and market.


Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, engineering, business, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.

  • 5+ years of experience serving industrial markets such as collision repair, paint, manufacturing, OEM, or insurance.

  • Experience in application engineering, technical service, technical training, and/or technical sales.

  • Intermediate/advanced English.


Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Hardware and/or software experience with automotive calibration and diagnostic equipment.

  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

  • Strong written, verbal, listening, and presentation skills.

  • Related technical diploma, apprenticeship, or equivalent technical qualification.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

  • Ability to analyse challenges, solve problems, and implement practical solutions.

  • Strong hands-on demonstration skills.

  • Proactive “can do/will do” attitude.

  • Comfort presenting technical information to a variety of internal and external audiences.

  • Current valid driver’s license.

Work Location: This role follows an on-site working model and requires the employee to work at least four days per week at the 3M office in Santa Fe, Mexico City.

Travel: May include approximately 25–35% domestic travel, with occasional international travel.
