About IG Group
IG is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.3 million customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions. We are built on scale, trust and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that's rare in established businesses. The bar is high. Bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next.
About the role
This is a role for a product leader who is as comfortable defining the strategy as they are shipping against it. As Product Lead for Emerging Markets, you will own the product vision and multi-quarter roadmap for IG's Emerging Markets portfolio. You are responsible for every product we offer there. You will decide which problems are worth solving, set the direction. You will not be handed a brief. You will write it.
EM is one of the biggest growth bets IG is making. The job is to grow the customer base and expand the footprint, and to build a repeatable engine for entering markets and scaling in them. You will not be the custodian of a finished product.
EM spans a wide and growing set of jurisdictions, each with its own regulatory regime, payment infrastructure and customer behaviour, so the role needs a global view rather than a regional one. Onboarding, funding and the customer lifecycle are the hardest problems here and the biggest levers on growth.
About the team
This role sits within IG's APAC product function, reporting into the Head of Product, APAC, alongside the product leads who own our other markets in the region. Product Leads are embedded in the market they own. You are on the ground, close to the customers, the regulator and the commercial team, making sure we build what the market needs and that it lands when we ship. You will also help shape how we work, contributing to our product operating model and product culture as it matures across the region. You will work closely with the Head of Emerging Markets and the commercial team. We work AI-first in product. Research synthesis, prototyping and delivery all run with AI tools in the loop, and we expect you to work the same way.
Key responsibilities
Product strategy and market entry
- Own the product vision and multi-quarter roadmap for the EM portfolio, aligned to IG's commercial objectives. Not just contributing to it but setting it.
- Determine which customer problems are worth solving and why, before any solution work begins, and make the call on what we deliberately do not build.
- Identify, size and prioritise new markets, and form a clear view of where we can realistically compete in each one: who the incumbents are, what customers actually want, and what would make IG the better option.
- Turn that into a product plan: regulatory scoping, what we localise, what we reuse, whether we build, buy or partner, and in what sequence we ship.
- Own how the product makes money across EM: pricing, activation, funding conversion and retention, market by market.
Discovery and delivery
- Run discovery that goes beyond what customers say, so you understand the motivations, friction points and habits that drive trading behaviour in each market.
- Own the end-to-end journey: onboarding, KYC and funding through to a first trade, then activation, retention and reactivation. Meet suitability and AML obligations without conceding conversion.
- Match the right customer to the right product at the right time, so people find what suits them when they are ready for it and only where it is appropriate for them.
- Use the voice of the customer. You will not own CX, but you are expected to know what customers are telling us through support contacts, research, reviews and complaints, and act on it.
- Work test and learn. Drive experiment led innovation, learning what works or failing fast.
Leadership and influence
- Influence stakeholders across product, engineering, legal, compliance, marketing and senior leadership, driving alignment up, down and across the organisation.
- Partner with Compliance to keep a proactive and healthy relationship with the regulators in each market, stay ahead of regulatory change rather than reacting to it, and work with Operations and Finance on running regulated entities in several markets at once.
- Build and hold the relationship with the central Product and Technology teams. Represent what the EM portfolio needs, reuse what exists rather than rebuilding it, and feed local learnings back.
- Play a leadership role in the EM team, not just a product one. Set the standard for how the market works, and bring others up to it.
Role requirements
- 5+ years shipping consumer-facing products in a regulated environment, such as trading or investment platforms, crypto exchanges, neobanks, payments or similar.
- Experience owning product strategy and a multi-quarter roadmap across more than one market, with accountability for the outcome.
- Experience taking a product into a new jurisdiction, including regulatory scoping, localisation and making onboarding, KYC and payments work there.
- Experience growing a customer base, and owning the commercial metrics that go with it: conversion, cost of acquisition, retention or payback.
- Strong quantitative skills. You can define metrics, build a funnel, interrogate the data and change course on the evidence.
Desirable
- Experience operating across several markets or regions, and familiarity with offshore or cross-border operating models.
- Working knowledge of the wider regulatory and governance environment beyond the financial regulators, such as AML and CFT requirements, data privacy and cross-border advertising rules.
- Experience with leveraged products, shares or digital assets.
- AI-native. You already use AI tools across research, prototyping and delivery.
