This position reports to:
Chapter Lead__
Contributes to ABB's success with technology, software, product, and/or system development. Identifies and implements innovative solutions to relevant problems. Provides ideas and can work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.

Location: Quartino Switzerland
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Firmware Development: Design, develop, and implement firmware for Power Electronic Converters and communication modules, ensuring robust functionality and cybersecurity
- Software Quality Assurance: Conduct unit, integration, and system testing to validate software performance and reliability
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with system architects and hardware/software engineers to translate system requirements into detailed firmware specifications
- Innovation and Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to intellectual property creation and collaborate with global engineering teams to drive continuous improvement and share expertise
Qualifications for the Role:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Information or Electrical, Power Electronic, Electronic Engineering, Embedded Systems, or comparable field
- You have at least 3 years of experience in designing control firmware based on microcontrollers / DSPs for Power Electronic Products such as UPS, BESS, Renewable Energy systems
- You are highly skilled in C/C++/Python and Firmware Development.
- You have solid knowledge in structured development processes, ranging from requirement analysis, design, and implementation to test and documentation.
- Experience with development infrastructure, including Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (Git), lifecycle management, build systems, unit testing, debug probes, oscilloscopes, and similar tools
- Exposure to Cyber Security concepts and knowledge of main industrial communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, EtherCAT) are a plus
- You are passionate about teamwork and innovation.
- You are at ease communicating in English and Italian
