Do work that matters
We're building tomorrow’s bank today, which means we need creative and diverse engineers to help us redefine what customers expect from a bank. Envisioning new technologies that are still waiting to be invented and reimagining products that support our customers and help build Australia’s future economy.
CommBank is recognised as leading the industry in IT and operations with its world-class platforms and processes, agile IT infrastructure, and innovation in everything from payments to internet banking and mobile apps. Our Software team are the brains behind Australia’s number one banking app, Netbank, Cardless Cash, and Kit x Youthsaver. Working closely with product, architecture and engineering teams, you'll help translate technical strategy into high-quality solutions while mentoring engineers and uplifting engineering practices.
In this role you will:
Design, build and operate cloud-native services, APIs and data products
Deliver scalable solutions that support credit risk decisioning.
Contribute to modern service-domain and event-driven architectures
Lead technical design, code reviews and complex problem solving.
Champion engineering excellence across testing, observability and operational readiness
Support modernisation initiatives and migration of legacy platforms
Mentor engineers and help strengthen engineering capability across the squad
We're interested in hearing from people who:
Have strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, design patterns, clean code practices, and automated testing
Have experience with distributed systems, streaming or event-driven architectures.
Thrive in a "you build it, you run it" environment.
Familiarity with modern front-end technologies and frameworks for developing user-facing applications
Understanding of secure software development practices and DevSecOps principles
Are curious about AI-enabled engineering and emerging technologies.
Technical Skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
Language Agnostic, proficient with C#, .NET, .NET Framework
Experience defining and building secure web (next.js/React), GraphQL and microservices REST API.
Excellent understanding of large-scale distributed systems, integration, and cloud technology.
Establish new ways of working and promote DevSecOps culture of CI/CD pipelines and Automation supported by world-class tools.
