Description

Overview

A family in Southern Oregon is seeking an experienced Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) to support their seven-week-old baby. The family previously had an NCS, but she had to leave unexpectedly for personal reasons. They are hoping to find someone who can step in quickly and provide knowledgeable newborn support while also building a strong, collaborative relationship with Mom. The previous NCS has offered to help transition the new NCS.

The ideal candidate is an experienced NCS who understands that every family has their own preferences and approach. Mom is very hands-on and wants to work together with her NCS on routines, strategies, and bonding with the baby. They are specifically looking for a team player who can share their expertise without taking over or being controlling.

Schedule:

  • Approximately 20 hours of care per day with a 4-hour break
  • Family is flexible with how the NCS takes their break and can work together to create a schedule that allows Mom to have dedicated time with the baby each day
  • Ideally looking for support during both daytime and overnight hours
  • Immediate/ASAP start preferred - the next several weeks are particularly important for the family

  • Communicating regularly with Mom about the baby's needs and progress
  • Working collaboratively with Mom to establish routines that work well for the family
  • Providing a smooth handoff and sharing knowledge with the family as needed

Qualifications

  • Comfortable working closely with a very hands-on mother
  • Able to provide expertise and guidance without taking control
  • Flexible and respectful of the family's parenting style
  • Someone who values building a positive relationship with both Mom and baby

Requirements

  • Experienced Newborn Care Specialist with strong newborn experience
  • Confident and knowledgeable about newborn care, feeding, and sleep
