Regional Director of Operations (Skilled Nursing)

The Regional Director of Operations (RDO) will provide executive operational leadership, strategic guidance, and P&L accountability across our portfolio of skilled nursing facilities in the Baltimore market. Following an acquisition six months ago, high-performing Licensed Nursing Home Administrators (LNHA) were established across the buildings; we are now seeking a seasoned, hands-on regional operations leader to unify systems, drive census growth, optimize labor and cost structures, and maintain operational stability. Working directly with facility leadership and executive ownership, the RDO will ensure each center achieves top-tier operational, financial, and regulatory performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct operational oversight, leadership, and strategic support to facility Licensed Nursing Home Administrators (LNHAs) across the regional network.
• Drive operational standardization, post-transition integration, and performance benchmarking across all recently acquired facilities.
• Hold full P&L accountability for the region, managing annual operating budgets, margin optimization, and cost-control initiatives.
• Monitor key financial and operational levers, including staffing ratios, overtime mitigation, agency labor reduction, and vendor management.
• Partner with facility and regional clinical leadership to ensure operational practices support survey readiness, life safety codes, and state/federal regulatory compliance.
• Drive occupancy, length of stay, and census development strategies in coordination with regional sales, marketing, and hospital liaison teams.
• Spearhead regular operational reviews, tracking critical KPIs (occupancy, net revenue, staffing hours per resident day, accounts receivable, and quality metrics).
• Maintain a regular, hands-on on-site presence across the portfolio to evaluate building operations, conduct plant/environment inspections, and mentor local administrative teams.
• Ensure capital expenditure (CapEx) projects, facility physical plant upgrades, and preventive maintenance plans are executed efficiently.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensure: Active Nursing Home Administrator license (LNHA) in the State of Maryland (or eligible for immediate reciprocity).
• Industry Background: Extensive multi-facility operational leadership experience strictly within the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) sector (e.g., Regional Director of Operations, VP of Operations, or Regional Operations Consultant).
• Leadership Profile: Prior experience as a successful building-level Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, coupled with a proven multi-building regional track record.
• Transition Experience: Proven expertise managing acquisitions, operational integration, and system rollouts in skilled nursing environments.
• Financial Acumen: Strong command of skilled nursing finance, Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement models, labor management, and comprehensive P&L oversight.
• Mobility: Ability and willingness to maintain an active, field-based physical presence across the facilities within the Baltimore metropolitan area.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related discipline; Master’s degree (MHA/MBA) preferred.

Compensation

• Base Salary: $250,000 – $300,000 (commensurate with background, scope, and track record).
