JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Senior Advisor for Research Administration and Transition
The College of Medicine invites applications for a part-time academic (non-exempt) job of Associate Professor, Senior Advisor for Research Administration and Transition. The Senior Advisor for Research Administration provides strategic counsel, institutional knowledge, and transition support to ensure a seamless transfer of leadership and continuity of research administration operations during the onboarding of the new Associate Dean for Research Administration.
Job duties to include:
- Provide onboarding and mentoring support to the incoming Associate Dean for Research Administration.
- Facilitate the transfer of institutional knowledge, historical context, and best practices related to research administration, compliance, and faculty support.
- Ensure continuity and uninterrupted support of research faculty, trainees, and students in matters related to research administration during the leadership transition.
- Advise on stakeholder relationships and key internal and external partnerships.
- Provide guidance on complex research administration matters, including faculty development, proposal support, compliance, and research operations.
- Assist with the evaluation and prioritization of ongoing initiatives during the transition period.
- Undertake special assignments related to research strategy, administrative effectiveness, and organizational development.
- Serve as the Institutional Official for the IACUC.
Preferred Requirements, qualifications, education and/or competencies:
- Prior experience serving as an Associate Dean for Research Administration or an equivalent senior research leadership position.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the College of Medicine, Penn State University, and Penn State Health research enterprise, strategic priorities, and organizational cultures.
- Thorough knowledge of institutional research policies, procedures, governance structures, and external funding environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
