Mō te tūranga | About the role
As Ranger, Monitoring Operations Logistics Support you will provide administration support to the local Supervisor and field teams. The field teams conduct fieldwork for biodiversity monitoring programmes across New Zealand as part of the Department's tiered National Biodiversity Monitoring Programme. As our Logistics Support Officer, you will be the go-to person supporting our field teams ensuring they have all the equipment and resources they need available for their day or field deployments ahead.
This position will be focussed on:
- contacting Operations Managers, iwi, landowners and managers e.g. forestry companies to ensure the field teams have the necessary permissions to travel to plots and stay on location
- organising accommodation, equipment and range of other administrative tasks to assist the field teams and Supervisor
- data quality assurance and maintaining information for the field teams and preparing the necessary background information teams need in the field
- at times acting as an afterhours contact for the field teams
- You will be part of a national team and may have responsibilities that extend beyond the local team.
This is a permanent, full-time position. The role is Monday to Friday and is office-based in Hokitika.

- previous experience in customer service, administration, or a similar field (highly advantageous).
