Sr. Mould Designer

Job Description

A Senior Mould Designer who consistently deliver results by addressing immediate issues, identifying short-term opportunities, understanding customer needs, identify changes in customer needs, supporting colleagues, and applying strong functional knowledge within their area of expertise. At the Senior Engineer level the expectation is that the employee can solve tasks with higher complexity and knows how the overall value chain works to enable them to discover improvement opportunities outside their area as well. Stay within the frame they have been given and when cases exceed own area, they need to present their findings to management to ensure link to cross-functional processes and strategies. They are welcome to support the initiative, but higher skylines should take the lead. At Senior Engineer level they must take in responsibility in team activities and ensure coherence within the team since they are role models for many other colleagues. Expectations are higher to Senior Engineers when it comes to stakeholder management and focus on both up- and downstream dependencies in their decision making through higher level of collaboration and communication.

We aspire to design each mould construction in the most efficient and cost effective way producing the best quality moulds by constantly challenging and improving our technical and technology knowledge, processes and way of doing things as well as strong collaboration with our stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:

• Supports standardization of new equipment and continuous improvement of current equipment
• Provides technical guidance for development, design and construction of moulds in collaboration with suppliers (project technical lead)
• Involved in the Quality Up Front initiatives for the Reorders business representing the MP2015 Mould Design Execution team
• Involves in technical decision making for High Risk Reorders process and up front High Risk Reorders work for the MP2015 Mould Design Execution Team
• Examine, develop and maintain value-adding digital enabling tools – for instance improving tolerance calculations, etc.
• Apply an engineering approach to connector and element development
• Support process improvement initiatives and implementation of best practices Tasks can include: Investigation of technical and scientific parameter, f.ex. running design of experiments evaluation in impact of different variables such as temperatures, humidity; providing input to set the frame for the processing parameters: for new and existing materials; Testing and evaluation of equipment around the process (screws, nozzles, mould design, dryers, and other auxiliary equipment) to evaluate the frame in which those new materials can be processed within LEGO quality standards undefined

Do you have what it takes?

• Role model and mentor towards teamEnsure constructions are delivered on time, on cost, in good quality, and in adherence to standards      
• Able to be involved in designing moulds to produce LEGO Bricks world‑renowned for their exact "clutch power" having to meet some of the tightest tolerances in the entire injection moulding industry
• High Proficiency 3D CAD Skills (NX and Teamcentre)·      
• Strong expertise in mold design and moulding process principles and technical    
• Relevant education within Mould/Mechanical design Engineering needed to apply solid specialist knowledge within the area of Mould engineering      
• Solving medium complexity tasks in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders     
• Follows all project management rules·      
• Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing work under deadlines
