Testing and Inspection Technician

Job Summary:

A Testing Technician helps ensure products are safe, reliable, and meet quality standards by performing product testing and documenting results. The Testing Technician learns how to set up and operate testing equipment, evaluate product performance, and identify potential issues. Working alongside experienced team members, this role gains hands-on experience supporting product development, quality improvement, and customer requirements while helping ensure products perform as intended in lifting, rigging, and other industrial applications.

Essential Functions:

• Set up, operate, and maintain testing equipment, tools, and measuring devices used in product testing.
• Perform product testing and inspections to verify quality, safety, and performance standards.
• Conduct in-house, customer-requested, employee certification, and product failure testing activities.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, and monitor Test Bed equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
• Record test results and maintain accurate reports, testing records, and documentation.
• Enter and maintain testing data in company software, spreadsheets, and business systems.
• Inspect products and materials to ensure they meet customer, quality, and industry requirements.
• Assist with product development, research, evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Help identify product failures, determine root causes, and document findings.
• Maintain testing equipment, tools, materials, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Work closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams to support testing projects and production needs.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and industry standards.
• Support order fulfillment by completing testing activities efficiently and on schedule.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record test information.
• Ability to follow work instructions, testing procedures, industry standards, and safety requirements.
• Basic math, measurement, and geometry skills.
• Ability to identify problems, make sound decisions, and help find practical solutions.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, testing software, and company business systems.
• Ability to learn company products, materials, product codes, and common industry terms.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage several tasks and priorities.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

The nature of work involves considerable physical effort to perform mechanical tasks. Required to:

• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as directed
• Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally during operations.
• Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired
• Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out, use multiple muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects and make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists. 
• Use manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to safely operate testing equipment, measuring devices, and tools. 
• Visually inspect products, test setups, equipment, and measurement tools, requiring adequate near and distance vision. 
• Climb ladders and work from elevated platforms when required.
• Employees may work in extreme heat and cold temperatures in warehouse settings with dirt and dust and a moderate to      loud noise level.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Valid forklift truck certification required. 
• Prior experience in the following industries preferred: construction, oil industry, mining, aerospace, heavy industrial, & maritime.

  Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay Range - $20.00 - $22.00  per hour.
