Located in Annandale, Virginia, Sunshine Animal Hospital is a small, community-focused practice where personalized care and long-term relationships truly matter. Many of our clients have trusted Sunshine with their pets for years, allowing our team to build meaningful relationships with both pets and the people who love them. Led by Dr. Cavadel, our team takes the time to get to know our clients, listen to their concerns, and provide thoughtful, individualized care. Our services include preventive medicine, dentistry, surgery, diagnostics, ultrasound, radiology, and in-house laboratory testing.

A Day in the Life
- Assist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures while maintaining efficient workflow throughout the hospital
- Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures
- Support dentistry procedures including dental cleanings, dental radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery
- Provide attentive nursing care for hospitalized and recovering patients including medication administration, monitoring, IV catheter placement, and fluid therapy
- Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples for laboratory testing
- Operate diagnostic equipment including digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound support, and in-house laboratory analyzers
- Maintain accurate medical records, treatment logs, and patient documentation
- Communicate with clients regarding treatment plans, patient updates, medications, and post-operative care with patience, empathy, and genuine compassion
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care and maintain a positive hospital culture
- Support and mentor veterinary assistants and newer team members when needed
Skills & Requirements
Beyond strong technical skills, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the client relationship side of veterinary medicine. Because Sunshine has so many long-standing clients, patience, compassion, and thoughtful communication are incredibly important to our team.
Our ideal candidate:
- Is a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Virginia, or an RVT/LVT/CVT currently licensed in another state with the ability to transfer licensure to Virginia within 6 months or less
- Has strong experience in surgery, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, and treatment flow
- Is confident and compassionate when communicating with clients
- Has the patience to listen, answer questions, and help pet parents feel comfortable and supported
- Enjoys working in a smaller practice and building meaningful, long-term relationships with clients and their pets
- Has strong knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, terminology, and patient care standards
- Can compassionately handle and restrain animals, including fearful or stressed patients
- Is proficient with veterinary software and medical documentation
- Can lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes
