SUMMARY
We are seeking a talented individual to join our People Function team at Marsh in Singapore. This is a true business partner role, working with the various country and regional business leadership teams, advising on broader business issues, such as workforce planning, organizational design and management. The People Leader will be responsible for management and execution of people strategy for the region plus, in conjunction with the firm’s CoEs, management of all aspects of HR including recruitment, selection, assessment, retention, orientation and integration, career development, talent management, compensation, performance management and employee relations. Reporting to the Regional People Leader Asia, this role will manage a team of HR professionals in Singapore and other countries, with the potential to grow the team in line with business requirements.
This senior HR leadership role is intended to provide strategic leadership and business partnering that will directly impact and support the business and ensure the alignment of HR activities and priorities to the Asia People Strategy.
We will count on you to:
- Work closely with the Asia HR team and the Country CEOs to design and implement HR solutions, programs, and policies that achieve short-and-long term business growth targets, including Business & People Strategy, HR Program Design & Delivery and Data & Analytics.
- Manage the overall employee experience that retains, develops and advances colleagues’ careers including Performance Management & Employee Relations, Policy Development and Interpretation, Talent Management Program Execution, Compensation & Benefits Management and Employee Technology Systems.
- Be a positive representative of HR across the businesses, contributing on Cross-Functional initiatives and cross-HR project teams as required.
- Provide strategic support across the region by partnering in the development of workforce plans, organizational and job designs to align and manage people resources across the business.
- Manage the movement of workforce in and out of the organization as the business changes, including M&A activity as well as RIF.
- Manage the year-end compensation process, in conjunction with the Rewards CoE and the business.
- Oversee the matrix review process with the market, ensuring that decision making across a large number of leaders is consistent and that budget guidelines are met.
- Oversee and provide expertise in complex employee relations issues for the business in partnership with Regional and Global HR Leadership.
- Lead and manage the HR function including the provision of team development opportunities, coaching and mentoring to developing HR professionals.
What you need to have:
- More than 15 years of progressive HR experience including leadership of a multi-country HR function, preferably from a professional services or financial services environment.
- Proven experience in HR business partnering within a matrixed organisation.
- Good commercial acumen and understanding of business.
- Strong knowledge of local labour law and HR best practices in Singapore and broader Asia markets.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility across all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and advise business leaders, able to challenge when necessary and promote an alternate perspective to enable robust evaluation of issues and options. Ability to navigate difficult and complex situations with tact.
- Have demonstrated experience in using data and various technologies to support leaders in making informed decisions.
- Experience collaborating with HR Centres of Excellence.
- Able to manage competing priorities, work independently and act as a resourceful self-starter.
- Staying current with HR and industry market trends and openness to share knowledge and key experiences with colleagues and leaders.
- Undergraduate degree in appropriate area is essential. Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related studies is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills especially in English with additional Asian language skills a plus.
