About the Department:
The Fund Development department aims to develop and implement strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief through a range of fundraising initiatives and through acquisition and retention of donors, volunteers and community supporters.
Job Purpose:
To support the operations of the National Fundraising Team executing fundraising campaigns and events. Streamline processes, coordinate with internal and external teams, manage logistics, and handle administrative tasks like tracking finances and processing expenses to support effective fundraising efforts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Support the National Fundraising Team and team on national fundraising campaigns, events, challenges, and ad-hoc related tasks/projects
Develop systems and processes to support the National team on major campaigns and events (i.e. Ramadan collections, fundraisers, national challenges, etc)
Liaise with relevant members to uphold IR’s standards and expectations
Liaise with internal and external teams to continuously improve the department’s onboarding process
Prepare and submit requests for marketing and/or Communications and Government Relations collateral for fundraising needs
Liaise with the National team to organize regional events and activities
Track profit/loss after events and campaigns
Oversee/submit department invoices, expenses, and reimbursements to finance
Support the National Fundraising Team with day-to-day tasks
Qualifications & Competencies
Experience:
Some experience in administrative work or relevant position
Experience with planning and implementing events
Project management experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Post-Secondary Education; University degree preferred
Demonstrated ability to utilize Excel and prepare documents
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in French is an asset
Strong attention to detail required
Proven capacity to work collaboratively and proactively with colleagues; to work effectively independently and in a team; and to work under time-bound and stressful
Strong motivation and empathy towards the aims and objectives of the organization
Numerical skills, the ability to work accurately under pressure and pay attention to detail
Strong organizational skills i.e. ability to prioritize and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems etc.
Other:
Have a flexible approach to work in order to accommodate events, functions and work activity
Hybrid Work Policy:
IRC has a hybrid model where in-office requirements are based on distance from our Burlington headquarters or a regional office (Surrey, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa). Depending on where you live, this can range from two days a week to one day a month.
