Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Flight Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, you'll be a member of the Air Care Transport team, providing dynamic and immediate care to high urgency patients across Nebraska in an ambulatory helicopter.
Everyday, you will perform initial and ongoing assessment of patients with complex health care and collaborate with the patient, family, rescue personnel and outlying hospital personnel to create a multidisciplinary healthcare team whose goal is to provide care that is continuous and well-coordinated.
To thrive in this vital role, you will react calm, quickly and efficiently to emergent and critical situations.
- Implements interventions and treatments consistent with Air Care protocols and/or medical on-line direction
- Actively participates in evaluating and ensuring safety in and around the aircraft, directing any safety concerns appropriately while making recommendations for safe practice
- Educates others in the safe practices in and around the helicopter through formal and informal presentations
- When not flying and once all responsibilities associated with the daily operations of the program have been completed; provides patient care and interventions in the Emergency Department or other hospital operations

Job Requirements
Required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in NE or nurse license compact
- Current EMT or Paramedic license in NE
- Three years critical care or ER experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 5 months of start date
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) within 12 months of start date
- TNATC (Transport Nurse Advanced Trauma Course) within 12 months of start date
- CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse) within 24 months of start date

CHI Health Good Samaritan AirCare is the longest operating original air ambulance service in Nebraska. AirCare proudly provides service to central Nebraska and northern Kansas, transporting patients to destination facilities in cities such as Kearney, Lincoln, Omaha, Wichita, Kansas City and Denver. Our experienced flight teams are ready to take off at a moment’s notice, with the ability to transport two patients and up to three medical providers.
Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
