ESG Assurance & Advisory Manager

Are you passionate about sustainability, assurance and helping organisations navigate an evolving ESG landscape? As an ESG Assurance & Advisory Manager, you will play a leading role in delivering high-quality ESG assurance engagements while supporting clients throughout their sustainability journey.

You will manage a diverse portfolio of projects, with a primary focus on ESG assurance engagements such as CSRD sustainability statements, greenhouse gas emissions and ESG KPIs. Depending on client needs and market developments, you will also contribute to ESG advisory assignments, helping organisations strengthen their sustainability reporting and ESG processes.

What will you be doing?

Your impact:

• Lead ESG assurance engagements – Manage limited assurance engagements related to ESG information such as CSRD sustainability statements, greenhouse gas emissions and ESG KPIs, ensuring quality, consistency and compliance with applicable standards.
• Apply assurance expertise to complex ESG topics – Lead risk assessments, evaluate evidence, challenge assumptions and assess reporting processes to conclude on the reliability of sustainability information.
• Act as a trusted advisor throughout the assurance process – Engage with clients on reporting methodologies, governance structures, ESG processes and emerging sustainability reporting requirements in a pragmatic and constructive manner.
• Support ESG advisory engagements where relevant – Contribute to projects such as CSRD readiness assessments, double materiality assessments, carbon footprinting exercises and sustainability reporting improvements, depending on client needs and market opportunities.
• Manage and coach teams – Lead multidisciplinary teams, review deliverables, provide technical guidance and support the development of junior and senior colleagues.
• Drive quality and innovation – Contribute to the further development of BDO's ESG assurance methodologies, technical guidance, templates and market offerings.
• Support business development – Identify opportunities, contribute to proposals and help further grow BDO's ESG assurance and sustainability services.

What do you bring to the table?

Your foundation:

• You have at least 6-8 years of relevant experience in ESG assurance, financial audit, sustainability consulting or a related field.
• Experience leading assurance engagements and managing client relationships is considered a strong asset.
• Experience in ESG advisory services such as CSRD implementation, double materiality assessments, ESG reporting or carbon footprinting is highly valued.
• You have strong knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks and standards, including CSRD, ESRS and the GHG Protocol.
• You have experience managing projects and coordinating teams in a client-facing environment.
• You are comfortable discussing technical topics with both operational stakeholders and senior management.
• You combine technical expertise with a pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset.
