What is the role?

We are seeking a Casual NVQ Level 2 & 3 Spectator Safety Assessor to evaluate the occupational competence and real-world skills of our trainee event stewards, supporting them in achieving their Level 2 Certificate in Spectator Safety.

What will you be doing?

You will observe Safety Stewards live on site during football matches, concerts and other events, ensuring they meet the benchmark safety regulations as mandated by the Sports Grounds Safety Authority and assessing them against the National Occupational Standards across core skills and completing learner reviews.

You will grade portfolios and verify the supporting evidence such as witness testimonies, professional discussions and Q&As while providing constructive feedback and guidance to those who fall short of required safety standards, ensuring action plans are in place to bring them up to the required standards.

You will be working closely with the IQA Assessor and Recruitment and Training Officer to ensure compliance with the awarding organisation’s standards.

To be successful in this position, you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of learners. You will have a good understanding of how to adjust your approach to suit their learning needs and support them in reaching their full potential.

Essential Skills and Experience 

• Must hold a recognised assessor qualification such as TAQA, A1, or CAVA
• Proven background and current occupational competence in crowd management or spectator safety e.g., senior stewarding, supervisor, or safety officer roles.
• In-depth understanding of the Green Guide regulations, counter-terrorism protocols, ACT awareness, and emergency first aid requirements.
• The ability to use IT when assessing would be an advantage.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
